Online games, especially those involving a team or PVP, live and die with how many people really play games at the same time. While each platform may have many players in their own walled garden, there is still something that can be said when you can play on any platform and play with anyone on any platform. Palpitance, one of the unexpected hits of the MMO genre, very promising that because it extends its reach from the PC and the console into a cellphone.
The barrier might be an outlier in the MMO genre, and its success almost lacks into a miracle. Born at the height of the MMO Free-to-Play (F2P), the shooter action avoids the stigma of the method of paying to the place of Win when providing quality content at the same level as the Paid MMO. Not only warframe managed to survive for nine years with such a business model, but also even expanded in content and reach.
Launched for Windows at first, the game added support for PS4 only a few months later, while the support of Xbox One would take almost a year to occur. Then spread to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, in that order, and it seems ready to throw the net further and wider than before.
At the Tennocon event this year, Digital Extremes developers revealed two important ways of this game developing. Mobile itself has become an impressive achievement, but extreme digital works extra to allow cross platform games and cross platform deposits too. Warframe fans may be excited, and players who are interested now have a little reason not to dive into the game. That said, Digital Extreme has not announced any timeline for the arrival of these features, but, given the quality of the demo, it might not be too far away.
