GM is working on electric pickup trucks other than Hummer EV GMC and Chevrolet Silverado who are confirmed back in April. The automotive giant has made announcements on media shows, according to CNBC and CNET Roadshow. It did not reveal a lot of detail about the project and only showed the dark image of a truck covered in tarpaulin during the presentation, but it said that it would be a full size GMC pickup.
Also, CNBC said it was expected to be a more “traditional” pickup than Hummer EV, which is a “lifestyle” vehicle. That could mean that it was something that was priced in the reach of more people than Hummer, even though GMC’s global head Duncan Aldred was reportedly refusing to admit whether it was the Sierra pickup version.
General Motors has promised more money in an effort to go electricity and without the driver. The car maker was initially planned to pour $ 20 billion into an effort, but it would announce that it would increase the investment of 2020-to-2025 to $ 35 billion, only this April. GM plans to offer 30 EV on the market at the end of 2025 and exclusively selling electric vehicles starting in 2035.
Hummer EV is scheduled to start producing this fall and will be one of the first electrical pickups that people can buy. With prices starting around $ 80,000, though, it’s not a direct competitor to other upcoming electrical trucks. Tesla’s Cybertruck and Ford F-150 Lightning will cost about half, and this mysterious third electric truck might be more competition for them.
