Monster Hunter Stories 2 is the latest entry in the long-term capcom series. While the Mainline Monster Hunter Pit game against malignant creatures in action-oriented fighting to death, 2 story takes a more relaxed approach but is still very pleasant.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 is very different from other entries because you involve fully monsters in turn-based battles. While I was initially worried about the game that lost the high edge of the main real-time series, I quickly realized that the story 2 chose something else fully, and it was all better for that reason.
The more I played Monster Hunter Stories 2, the more I started to see it the same as the brilliant Monster Hunter up. Both matches complement each other; Story 2 not only gave a welcome welcome from the high octane monster killing the increase, I thought it was a brilliant entry point into the Monster Hunter series and JRPGS as a whole.
It is undeniable that Monster Hunter Stories 2 adopts a more child-friendly approach to this series. But it’s not a bad thing at all. The gaming color palette is far more excited than the title Monster Hunter recently, and the characters given in beautiful Cel-Shading – suitable for the limited power of the Nintendo Switch, and interesting scenery on a PC with a 4K HDR monitor.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 also took a large number of iconic series monsters and managed to change them from enemies to become friends. Fight and tied with your kings – as a game so forcing refers to them – is the core mechanical story 2. You will do a lot of gathering monster eggs and hatches it into your warrior party.
When you use it more, monsties level up and thus learn new capabilities and closer to you as their drivers. The rider sharply distinguished from other hunters in the game because their main goal is not to kill or capture monsters. Instead, as a driver, you will try to hatch monsters from eggs and raise them as allies.
While your initial velocidrome (monsters like the Raptor who find themselves lower in the order of power in other Monster Hunter games) will eventually be replaced by stronger monsters such as Rathalos Draconic, I find their partnership very valuable in battle and – believe it or not – Really find myself very caring about my cage that enclosures.
One very cool aspect about monsties is that they all have direct skills related to exploration. There are environmental aspects – such as jumping platforms, rivers and vines that can rise – which can only be traversed by certain kings. Your velocidrome, for example, can use the jump platform, but can’t swim. It encourages players to adopt various kings at their parties to overcome a wide range of broader traversal choices.
